About This Experience
The Ultimate Stargazing Experience is Silver River's premium tour and the longest single-session stargazing tour in Tekapo on this site: two hours, a smaller and more personal format, and a private site on the farm with no light pollution at all.
You are picked up from your accommodation in the village and driven out to the site, where moon chairs and merino wool blankets are set out. The guide works through the constellations and then turns a modern 16-inch telescope — the largest on any of Silver River's tours — onto planets, star clusters and nebulae.
A platter of snacks and a choice of hot drinks come with it (platters need 48 hours' notice and can be adapted for dietary needs), along with photography guidance and a free photo of you under the stars, shared by link within about 24 hours.
Groups are no larger than 10. GetYourGuide lists this tour as not suitable for children under 16, and your card is charged in New Zealand dollars.

Our tour was fabulous. The viewing was the best. Our Guide Simon was friendly and courteous. He was very experienced and full of information with great knowledge. It was a small group of people, very personal and we all got a turn at viewing the stars in the telescope. We saw lots of satellites passing over. Plus we enjoyed the noisy frogs on the late edge. It all added to the experience. We would highly recommend this tour.
